At William Ransom Primary School, we believe that friendship is one of the most important building blocks of a happy and successful school life. That’s why we were so excited to celebrate Friendship Day — a day dedicated to exploring what it means to be a kind, respectful and caring friend.
What an incredible week it has been at William Ransom School! This week was dedicated to promoting mental health and wellbeing amongst our students through a variety of engaging activities. The theme this year was “Know yourself, Grow yourself,” encouraging our students to dive deeper into understanding themselves while cultivating their potential. Here are some Year 3 children showing their creativity in some challenges:
On Monday and Tuesday, we celebrated Ramadan and Eid with assemblies for both Key Stages. We heard from some of our pupils about what the month of Ramadan means to them and how they will be celebrating Eid with their families. Thank you very much to these students and their families - and Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate!
A huge thank you to all the parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and everyone else who came to enjoy books with the children for World Book Day again this year. It was so lovely to see so many of you here, reading and talking about books with the children.
On a beautiful sunny Tuesday, we held our annual pancake race with one boy and one girl from each House from Year 3 to 6 competing in a relay style race around the playground. The whole school came out to cheer on their team and it was a close run race, as you will be able to read from Luke’s report below:

Chip came to tell some 'Epic Tales'
This year, nearly 70 children in Year 3 and 4 have been attending lunchtime football club, led by the inspiring Miss Mumford and Mr Howard. For half the year, these children have been attending a weekly girls' or boys' session to learn the sport, improve team work, sports-person-ship and resilience whilst getting active and having some serious fun!
On Thursday 30th January, our Year 5 and 6 team took part in the North Herts School Sport Partnership Sportshall Athletics competition at Hitchin Boys' School.
