Year 5 Still Life Drawing

Our current Art topic is Objects and their Meaning, where we have been looking at a variety of different artists’ compositions, and discussing the objects they have used, and what they might mean. We have also spent time thinking about our own personal opinions of these pieces of art, which has led on to today’s lesson, where children composed and sketched their own Still Life pieces. They carefully arranged their objects, taking feedback from their learning partners, and then sketched an outline. Once they were happy with the shape and proportions, they used their shading techniques to create the illusion of light and three dimensions. Teachers were so impressed by their quiet focus and thoughtful compositions. Well done!
