Festival of Languages Day
Celebrating Languages William Ransom Style!
What a wonderful day we had again this year celebrating the languages our families speak! We had pasta making demonstrations; Irish dancing in the school hall; sessions on India/Punjabi, Greece/Greek, Germany/ German, Brazil/Portuguese, Ukranian/Russian, Venezuela and Mexico/ Spanish, Italy/Italian and Hungary/Hungarian. Some classes were also offered sessions in British Sign Language.
Every child had a passport and travelled from country to country without the need of planes, trains or automobiles! Their passports were used to keep a record of anything that they found interesting about the culture, traditions, geography, food or language of each country that they visited. Dancing was a popular activity in most countries!
A huge thank you must go to our wonderful parents and grandparents who gave up their time to create powerpoints and bring in items, clothes and flags from their country. They were also brave enough to stand up and teach a whole class of children and their teachers! Bravo!
