Animated Drawings in Year 3

During the first half of the Summer term children in Year 3 have been exploring animated drawings in art. The children were introduced to the idea that animations can be made by sequencing drawings. They gathered ideas in their sketchbooks by looking at the work of other artists and animators and after they had done this they designed and made a variety of animated objects. Robots, faces with moving parts and articulated animals were designed and made allowing the children to begin to see what moving parts might look like.

This work concluded with an afternoon using a stop motion app to really bring their creations to life! The children were amazing and used the app with proficiency, imagination and most importantly creativity. Short films were made, shared with the class and then we reflected as a class, and evaluated with peers, our brilliant creations. Well done to all in Year 3!
